Pulled from a 1990 passat with 200k - previous owner installed a new head - I drove the car home from Akron - engine has low compression on number 3 cylinder Compression numbers are roughly: 180 180 100 180 I would pull it apart before installing it in anything. $200 sale does not include alternator, distributor, valve cover or intake. These are available at additional cost.

Talk to Brian aka "broke" one the vortex. Dude is local and can either rebuild yours, sell you a rebuilt one or a good used unit. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerouser?cmd=viewprofile&id=32796

I've been talking to him actually. He's booked for rebuilds until after July, and doesn't know of anyone that has a 020 for sale. I'd love to wait until he's free but my GTI is my only car... Have you posted on swov? If you're not a complete cheapass someone will definitely have a used box. $150 to $300 is the ballpark for a known good close ratio 020. The sky is the limit for rebuilt/custom ones.
